Liam Gallagher has hit back at Brit Awards 2010 host Peter Kay for calling him a "knobhead" at last night's (February 16) ceremony.

Kay criticised Gallagher after he had left the stage following his speech for winning the Brit Album Of 30 Years award for the 1995 Oasis album '(What's The Story) Morning Glory'.

Writing about the comment on his Twitter.com/liamgallagher account, Gallagher chastised the Bolton-born comic for not insulting him to his face.

"Listen up fat fuck," he wrote. "As a real northerner I was brought up 2 say shit 2 people's faces not behind their back. Live forever LG"

Gallagher had an eventful night at the Brits. As well as picking up his award – which he threw into the audience – the singer also gave an insightful backstage interview where he insinuated that somebody else at the awards had had an argument with him. He was then heard saying that he wanted to get "loads of class A drugs" as the interview ended.

Bigger than the Beatles my ass... people weren't making jokes about the Beatles being total hack less than 20 years on, you jerk. I can only hope that some point soon he'll take too many of those "class A drugs" and go tits up. Between Liam's elementary school antics and Noel's bullshit attitude about the influence music can have, Oasis gets way to much credit as musical luminaries when in fact they're mediocre pop tools that just got lucky, with not much real to say other than drivel.

God bless Liam. he has 2 minutes exposure at the brits and steals the show. he didn't "throw" the microphone. it was more like an underarm pass. more likely than not it was planned. peter kay has made a living from reminescing about tea. he belongs back on blackpool pleasure beach. the donkeys have more talent than him. oasis fans are the best in the world and i for 1 cant wait for liams solo album. definetely maybe should have won anyway and the only album anywhere near morning glory in the choices was urban hymmes. the brits is always shite but at least liam made me laugh. i for one hope he stays mad 4 it for many years to come.

get a grip people. Liam G was onstage for about 25 seconds. He complimented the oasis fans and gently passed the mic into the audience. Thats it. done. from the amount of publicity its generated, you'd have thought he went on stage with a bag of crack on his head. So what if he started acting the clown afterwards. Who wouldnt?
