Noel Gallagher tells off Liam ahead of Oasis' Wembley shows

Guitarist has a pop at singer for telling fans not to clap

Oasis' Noel Gallagher has had a dig at his frontman brother Liam for ordering fans about at a recent stadium show.

The Manchester legends are set to play London Wembley Stadium tonight (July 9), Saturday (11) and Sunday (12) – although Noel revealed that when the band played at Coventry's Ricoh Stadium on Tuesday (July 7) he was unhappy with the singer's treatment of fans.

"In the middle of 'The Shock Of The Lightning', 50,000 people have got their hands in the air and he starts shouting at them to stop clapping," Noel explained to BBC Newsbeat.

He added: "I was thinking, 'That's nice – you pay £70 quid for a ticket to be told what to do by the singer. 'You! Stop enjoying yourself - no clapping in between these songs'."

In other Gallagher-related news, Oasis have commissioned Sheffield artist Pete McKee to create a one-off poster design for their Wembley Stadium shows.

Would that be the same Noel Gallagher who told the crowd at the Brighton Centre in 2002 to stop singing along to Wonderwall before leaving the stage in a girly strop - refusing to continue until they stopped?! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black... tosser!

As is the case nearly everyday NME reports something Noel says in jest and there will be an inevitable backlash of people slagging him off. Having listened to the interview this morning Noel wasn't having a "dig" or a "pop" he was joking around. In the context of the interview it was funny and people should damn well listen to Noel before taking his comments out of context and getting angry. Thank you.

I think it's whats called 'Noel trying to generate tickets sales' as they have been so poor. I was there last night (Wembley) and they were awful. Liam couldn't sing, Noel looked in pain, they has no stage craft or presence and the sound was appalling. They need to have a long hard think about where to go next, as last night was as bad as it's got for them. Amazing that after the triumph of Blur, Oasis have fallen flat on there faces. On the bright side, Kasabian were excellent, but The Enemy, are they a joke band or something???

97mde, are you stupid? This your sold remarkably well, when the tickets went on sale, there were records for the amount of tickets sold in one day. There are some extra tickets available now, which im guessing are returns and a few held back which is innevitable seen as its such a big venue...as for the sound etc, i wasnt there, will be sunday, but not every gig is good aye? Apparantly they were incredible tuesday, and have been all tour, so piss off with the oasis slagging, you were obviously dragged there by your gf or something, poor thing (i mean her not you). So just shut up aye. I'm sure they will take welcome youre advice for them. Fool.

saw them at slane a few weeks ago, out of the 9 times ive seen them id have to say that was their best! What was this blur triumph? Dissapper for a few years, have an ex member come back after 7 years and then play your back catalogue with no new album to showcase? is that what constitutes a triumph nowadays?

Just got back from Wembley! The Enemy didn't show due to sickness. Kasabian were not bad. OASIS were crap! Like a night in a rough London pub, beer thrown, piss thrown, yobs throwing up and fighting, people getting hit by objects from the crowd. Im no longer and OASIS fan, they are over-rated and lack presence!

I went to Oasis gig at Wembley on 12 July. Oasis were OK but didn't rate Wembley as a venue-not to mention being hit by flying objects, people being sick and getting covered with beer-stadium security just din't know how to deal with it. Left early along with loads of other people. Kasabian were great tho!!
