Neil Young named 2010 MusiCares Person Of The Year
Legend will be honoured at pre-Grammy reception
Neil Young has been named the 2010 MusiCares Person Of The Year, and will be honoured at an event taking place in January.
The singer has been recognised for his exceptional artistic accomplishment as well as philanthropic work. He co-founded Farm Aid in 1985, and runs the annual Bridge School Concerts with his wife Pegi. The charity has raised money since 1986 for children severe speech and physical impairments.
"Neil has set a standard of artistic integrity and iconoclastic creativity for more than four decades, and his achievements have been matched by his unwavering humanitarianism," Neil Portnow, president/CEO of the Recording Academy and the MusiCares Foundation said in a statement.
Young will be honoured at a gala in Los Angeles on January 29, two days before the 2010 Grammy Awards.
